Is Revolution Possible in the US ?
9 December 2004 par (Open-Publishing)
7 commentsONE SEGMENT of progressives reacted to George Bush’s victory in the 2004 presidential election with despair. “Maybe this time,” Nation magazine columnist Katha Pollitt commented bitterly, “the voters chose what they actually want: Nationalism, pre-emptive war, order not justice, ‘safety’ through torture, backlash against women and gays, a gulf between haves and have-nots, government largesse for their churches and a my-way-or-the-highway president.”
Liberal author Garry Wills concluded (…) -

We’ll soon have 150,000 U.S. troops stuck in the ever-expanding Iraqi quagmire, a number that will probably grow even larger before Iraq holds elections presently scheduled for the end of January ’05.
Maintaining such a force is a logistical and personnel nightmare for every grunt in Iraq. And according to several Pentagon number crunchers, it’s also driving the top brass bonkers.
Meanwhile the insurgents continue cutting our supply lines and whacking our fighting (…) -

4 commentsAmerica: Many information technology professionals know in their heart they could design an election system that could be trusted. We all wonder why we have a system this far out of kilter with expectation. What I see is that Americans are just now waking up to the realization that even if the 2004 election was not rigged, it certainly could have been. Three partisan-owned election companies control how your vote is counted. If you think this is ok and we should trust the machines and (…)
