This gathering was organized by the movement “Women for peace” and the mothers and their families gathered in front of the White House starting from 15H00 (19H00 GMT) and planned to remain there all the night until the same hour Sunday.
Cindy Sheehan, who lost a 24 year old son in the war in Iraq, declared: “I do not want that more mothers cry a son lost in this unjust and useless war in Iraq”.

In an official statement, Cindy Sheehan indicated that in this feastday of the mothers, “of innumerable mothers in Iraq has little to celebrate, whereas their families are torn by this violent occupation”.
“We will pass this Mother’s Day, the day and the night, to require that our children return from Iraq and are not sent in another war absurdity in Iran”, it added.
