The Ghost of America: Ignorance is bliss?
16 September 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
"I would rather have my ignorance than another man’s knowledge, because I’ve got so much more of it"......Mark Twain ********************************** I grew up in America’s bland and comfortable 50s. To be honest neither I nor my compatriots knew a damned thing about what was going on in the world. We didn’t know there was a war in Indo-China, or Korea, or Spanish Sahara. We didn’t know what was happening in our own government, were totally unaware of drugs and gangs and crime. Even sex was (…)

As Republicans continue to distance themselves from the political suicide of George W. Bush’s policies and his failed war in Iraq, some are also privately expressing doubts about his mental stability, saying the President’s erratic actions show a man increasingly out of control.
Even Bush’s former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, tells confidants he feels the President has "buckled (…) -

1 commentThe Issue Is Not National Security But Image Security By Greg Palast September 14, 2006 Forget the orange suit. Exxon Mobil Corporation, which admits it was behind the criminal complaint brought by Homeland Security against me and television producer Matt Pascarella, has informed me that the oil company will no longer push charges that Pascarella and I threatened "critical infrastructure."
The allegedly criminal act, which put us on the wrong side of post-9/11 anti-terror law, was our (…) -

Bush Push In Congress A Sign Of Fear And Weakness Will This GOP-Controlled Congress Protect Him? By David Lindorff September 15, 2006 The Bush administration’s full-court press against the Constitution is on, with the president getting closer to Senate, and possibly full Congressional approval of his warrantless spying program by the National Security Agency, and with a lobbying campaign on to get his program for kangaroo courts and life-time detention without trial for terror "war" (…)

In Iraq, Iran’s Arab Credentials Are Made
15 September 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
By Nicola Nasser*
Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s latest visit to Tehran was just another occasion to highlight that Iran is compromising its Arab credentials in Iraq, and to raise more questions about whether Tehran and Washington are in collusion or in collision in Baghdad than giving answers to Arabs who do care to have Islam as a unifying force between the Arab and Persian neighbouring nationalities against foreign interference in the region.
