Voter Insecurity And The 2006 Elections By James Zogby (Monday June 26 2006) "Insecurity runs deep in America today. Despite macro indicators which point to a relatively strong economy, polls show that most US voters are insecure about their future. Only 29% say that the country is on the right track and many indicate concern with job loss." While most contests in a congressional election year are decided on local issues and personalities, national themes often set the stage in a way that (…)

"Relief" For Aristocracy
27 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 comment"Relief" For Aristocracy By Robert L. Moore June 26, 2006 If achieving one’s goals is the measure of a successful presidency, then George W. Bush is one of the more successful presidents in history. He has, after all, helped transfer much of the nation’s wealth into the hands of the already wealthy, which has long been a major goal of the Republican right.
Bush’s rewriting the tax code diverted billions away from the nation’s treasury and into the clutches of select multimillionaires — (…) -

Scrawled Bush Threat Sparks California Port Scare By Dan Whitcomb Mon Jun 26, 2006 8:03pm ET LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A bomb threat against President George W. Bush and his "Jewish gang" scrawled in a cargo ship prompted authorities to shut down part of a major California port on Monday until investigators determined that no explosives were on the vessel.
Officials shut down a terminal at Port Hueneme, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles, after a dock worker discovered the message inside (…) -
Colombia: The DAS scandals
27 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Source: http://www.ciponline.org/ April 13, 2006
If you’ve ever traveled to Colombia, then you’ve seen the DAS, the government’s Administrative Department for Security. As soon as you get off the plane, DAS employees are there to stamp your passport and, perhaps, to ask why you’re visiting.
The DAS does much more than stamp passports, though. It is a powerful agency, a sort of “secret police” institution founded in 1960. Its principal purpose is intelligence and counterintelligence, both (…) -
Richard Perle: A Serial Warmonger!
26 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsRecently, sixteen American GIs were killed in the Iraqi War in one week! (1) This brought the total U.S. fatalities to 2519. This is the same conflict which was recklessly launched in March, 2003, by the Bush-Cheney Gang based on lies. (2) The chief architect of the war, Paul Wolfowitz, a Neocon, then a Deputy Secretary of Defense, now sits in a cushy office in Washington, D.C., bringing down a six-figure salary, as the President of the World Bank. (3) Meanwhile, another pro-Iraqi War (…)

Neocons Are Not Fascists, They’re Worse
25 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsNeocons Are Not Fascists, They’re Worse Many critics of the current Administration are drawing parallels to Fascism. But the neoconservative movement now ruling America’s government is a distinct departure from any previous Administration, and though, at times, followers may use tactics that are fascistic, the movement is more ominous than Fascism. This movement was constructed mainly by intellectuals and civilians who were not and are not elected officials. Never before in American history (…)

Party Favor
25 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Party Favor Tom Knapp Thursday, June 22, 2006 A number of Libertarians have expressed interest in moving a resolution for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney at the Libertarian Party’s upcoming national convention in Portland, Oregon. Of course, in order for a resolution to be moved, it first must be written. Here’s my initial proposal (which has not, as of this writing, been adopted for promotion by any group):
Whereas, George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney have (…) -
So Called Iraqi WMD

So Called Iraqi WMD By Larry C Johnson Friday, 23 June 2006 at 12:09 Senator Rick Santorum’s desperate effort to reenergize his failing re-election campaign by touting the discovery of so-called Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. Repeat after me, BULL FECAL MATTER!
Leave it to Faux, er, I mean, Fox News, to spin the malarkey:
"We have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, chemical weapons," Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., said in a quickly called press conference late Wednesday (…) -
Miami “terror” arrests-a government provocation
25 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentThere are many incongruities surrounding the arrest of seven men from the impoverished Liberty City neighborhood of Miami on charges of conspiracy to “wage war on the United States” that suggest it, like so many previous “terrorist plots” announced by the Bush administration, is a government-inspired provocation mounted for reactionary political ends.
None of the claims made by the government and repeated uncritically by the media concerning the arrest of these young working-class men can (…) -
Money-tracking leak angers Cheney
25 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
US Vice-President Dick Cheney has condemned as "offensive" US media disclosures of a secret programme that probes global financial transactions.
The government has covertly tracked thousands of international money transactions for nearly five years as part of its so-called war on terror.
Mr Cheney said leaking the programme played into the enemy’s hands.
The New York Times defended its coverage, saying the information was in the public’s interest.
