President Bush is off to less than a flying start in his second term. Besides the success of the elections in Iraq on Sunday, he has a slew of nagging problems, any one of which might derail his presidency.
With that thought in mind, I sat down and wrote up a list of the things George W. Bush might be worried about. They are roughly in order of importance. I hope he’s taking notes because I don’t think he will last all four years of his second term unless he addresses at least some of (…)

Officer Threatens To Arrest Woman For Anti-Bush Sticker
January 25, 2005
DENVER — Some people are angry when they see Shasta Bates’ derogatory bumper sticker about President George W. Bush — but she didn’t think she’d be threatened with arrest because of it.
The Denver Police Department is investigating a sergeant who allegedly threatened to arrest the 26-year-old for displaying the bumper sticker.
Bates said she was told by the sergeant (…) -
No Comparison?

No Comparison? January 24th, 2005 : Filed by A! This so-called ill treatment and torture in detention centers, stories of which were spread everywhere among the people, and later by the prisoners who were freed... were not, as some assumed, inflicted methodically, but were excesses committed by individual prison guards, their deputies, and men who laid violent hands on the detainees. Can anyone tell me who said that? Was it:
A) George W. Bush B) John Ashcroft C) Donald Rumsfeld D) (…) -

6 commentsSenators, those of you voting to approve Condo (White) Rice will be voting for an Oreo, and signing your own death warrants. How sad for all of us.
Also, Senators, won’t you feel tortured if you vote to confirm Gonzales as Attorney General? -

He’s the son of Robert F. Kennedy, the former Attorney General under his brother, John F. Kennedy.

Condi Fails Her Way Right To The Top

1 commentCondi Fails Her Way Right To The Top Bill Gallagher January 25, 2005 Detroit - Rice pudding: Equal measures of glibness, obfuscation and self-righteousness stirred around the only interests she recognizes — whatever President George W. Bush is thinking or wants. Condoleezza Rice served up her favorite recipe to members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at her confirmation hearing and, sadly, all but two were able to stomach the intellectual slop.
In an administration where the (…) -
Bush Talks A Good Game, Leaving Results To Speak For Themselves

1 commentBush Talks A Good Game, Leaving Results To Speak For Themselves John Hanchette January 25, 2005 Olean, NY - Some observations on current events before I get back to shoveling snow ... President George W. Bush’s inaugural speech, though somewhat more stirring than I expected, was a bit confusing to me. In using the words "free" or "freedom" more than 25 times, and in describing the spreading of liberty and democracy as "the calling of our time," Bush seemed to be saying he’s not afraid of (…)

Gonzales: Did He Help Keep George W. Bush’s DUI Quiet? Michael Isikoff, Newsweek Jan. 31 issue - Senate Democrats put off a vote on White House counsel Alberto Gonzales’s nomination to be attorney general, complaining he had provided evasive answers to questions about torture and the mistreatment of prisoners. But Gonzales’s most surprising answer may have come on a different subject: his role in helping President Bush escape jury duty in a drunken-driving case involving a dancer at an (…)

Bush’s Bold Vision is Rhetoric: Bush’s Utter Failure is Stunning Incompetence
22 January 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentWe were not surprised to unfurl the Chicago Sun-Times Friday morning (1/21) to see a full page photo of a grinning, designer-dressed "First Family" leaving the White House for the inauguration with the headline: "Bush’s Bold Vision: ’The Survival of Liberty in our Land Increasingly Depends on the Success of Liberty in Other Lands.’"
We were lucky we hadn’t eaten breakfast yet.
You see, Karl Rove had met with the White House propaganda staff shortly after the November "vote," and they (…) -
