U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton said Sunday that she supports the separation fence Israel is building along the edges of the West Bank, and that the onus is on the Palestinian Authority to fight terrorism.
"This is not against the Palestinian people," Clinton, a New York Democrat, said during a tour of a section of the barrier being built around Jerusalem.
"This is against the terrorists. The Palestinian people have (…)

House Budget Measure Is Pulled. Moderates Buck GOP Leadership In Both Chambers
13 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentBy Jonathan Weisman and Shailagh Murray
House Republican leaders were forced to abruptly pull their $54 billion budget-cutting bill off the House floor yesterday, amid growing dissension in Republican ranks over spending priorities, taxes, oil exploration and the reach of government.
A battle between House Republican conservatives and moderates over energy policy and federal anti-poverty and education programs left GOP leaders without enough votes to pass a budget measure they had framed (…) -
A Foul Tragedy. Democrats fled in the face of danger
13 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)

We Democrats are at our worst when we try to emulate Republicans as we did in signing onto the “war” on drugs that has ruined so many young lives.
The cruelty of the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984 is stark indeed, as are the sentencing guidelines that impose mandatory minimum sentences for minor drug possession-guidelines in the 1986 Anti-Drug Abuse Act that sailed through Congress without benefit of public hearings, drafted before an election by Democrats afraid to be (…) -
WHIG Resolution of Inquiry voted down 25-23 with two Dem No Shows
11 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsThe Republican majority on the House International Relations Committee yesterday again refused to investigate its own party. Barely. With a 4-member advantage on the IR committee over the Democrats, the GOP managed to hang on to a 25 to 23 vote win, defeating H.Res. 505, Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s attempt to actually investigate the secret activities of the WHIG, his Resolution of Inquiry (ROI) to look into the White House Iraq Group.
More than 100 House Democrats joined Kucinich in (…) -
A Crime Without a Name: ’Concern’ About Election Fraud is Useless Without Guts and Anger
10 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsSome news is so big it won’t fit into a headline. For example: WIDESPREAD VOTER DISENFRANCHISEMENT IN 2004.
Sorry. It may be true, but it’s a no-go on the front pages and TV news programs of America. The reality hovers namelessly, like the disappeared of Central America. Shhh, don’t refer to it directly. Wait 20 years, until they dig up the mass graves.
No matter the election was a multilayered travesty of disenfranchisement: widespread malfunctioning of electronic voting machines that (…) -
What John Kerry Definitely Said About 2004’s Stolen Election and Why It’s Killing American Democracy
10 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentThe net is abuzz about what John Kerry may or may not be saying now about the stolen election of 2004.
But we can definitively report what he has said about New Mexico and electronic voting machines soon after his abrupt "abandon ship" with 250,000 Ohio votes still uncounted.
And we must also report that what he’s not saying is having a catastrophic effect on what’s left of American democracy, including what has just happened (again) in Ohio 2005.
In recent days Mark Crispin Miller has (…) -
Borking Alito Requires Democratic Agenda

By nominating a man known as "Scalia-lite" for the Supreme Court, President George W. Bush may have picked a fight he is going to lose, unless the Democrats prove to be losers. The choice of Samuel A. Alito, a right wing stalwart, to replace the moderate Sandra Day O’Connor is at once, audaciously brazen, spit-in-the eye insulting, nakedly partisan and just plain dumb.
Bad News Bush has watched his poll numbers sink faster than New Orleans. Yet, he makes a choice of (…) -
It’s Time To Start Taking The Theocrats Seriously
7 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsEveryone needs to realize that "history does repeat itself", or does it have to? Therefore, by studying history, we can hopefully avoid the many disasters that have already happened. Or can we? IT’S TIME TO START TAKING THE THEOCRATS SERIOUSLY by Randolph T. Holhut
DUMMERSTON, Vt. - The nexus of evangelical Christianity and Republican politics is a force that is transforming the United States, and not for the better. As someone who firmly believes that church and state should be (…) -
Republicans Still Keeping Secret Evidence Administration Used Reports They Knew Were False to Bring US to War
6 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsby Rob Kall
The US has been staying in a war for more than a year since senate Republicans on the Senate Armed Services Committee bottled up information that showed the administration knew that evidence they cited as reasons to go to war was provided by a source who was known to "fabricate" bogus information.
The NY Times reports Bush, Cheney, Powell, and other administration officials repeatedly cited known dissembler’s information as “credible’’ evidence that Iraq was training Al Qaeda (…) -
Why Are Democrats Working For Wal-Mart?
5 November 2005 par (Open-Publishing)

I’m going to spend a second day here on the Beast of Bentonville. If you want to know why the Democratic Party will continue to be the minority party in the country, look no further than the raft of Democratic operatives and elected representatives who do the bidding of Wal-Mart. At the end of this rant, I’ll propose a solution to cut off money to any of these Democrats who have ties to Wal-Mart.
Yesterday, I attended the screening of Robert Greenwald’s new film, (…)
