Anyone who wants to understand why Israel has such unwavering support from the United States should speak to one man.
Fiery television evangelist Pastor John Hagee has emerged as the rallying voice for thousands of American Christians who believe Israel is doing God’s work in a "war of good versus evil".
When he strode on to a stage in Washington last month, he was cheered to the rafters by 3,500 prominent evangelicals - as well as by Israel’s ambassador (…)

Will the American-Israeli aggression against Lebanon stop after the unanimous adoption by the Security Council of Resolution 1701 yesterday?
One month and a day after the start of the American-Israeli aggression against Lebanon, after the failure of that aggression and its inability to achieve its aims, after America’s repeated use of stalling tactics, delaying (…) -

As the 6am ceasefire takes effect... the real war begins
Robert Fisk - The Independent August 14, 2006
The real war in Lebanon begins today. The world may believe - and Israel may believe - that the UN ceasefire due to come into effect at 6am today will mark the beginning of the end of the latest dirty war in Lebanon after up to 1,000 Lebanese civilians and more than 30 Israeli civilians have been killed. But the reality is quite different and will suffer no such self-delusion: the (…) -

Sham UN Resolution Guarantees No End To Israel’s War of Illegal Aggression - by Stephen Lendman
On August 11, the UN Security Council unanimously passed Resolution 1701 jointly proposed by the US and France and with all provisions in it signed off on by Israel before it was put to a vote. Neither Lebanon nor Hezbollah was afforded that same right. In a UN dominated by the world’s only superpower and having to operate within the constraints it sets, only US client states are allowed that (…) -
US Planned Lebanon War with Israel

1 commentNew York - The US government was closely involved in the planning of Israel’s military operations against Islamic militant group Hezbollah even before the July 12 kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers, The New Yorker magazine reported in its latest issue.
US journalist Seymour Hersh writes that President George W Bush and vice president Dick Cheney were convinced that a successful Israeli bombing campaign against Hezbollah could ease Israel’s security concerns and also serve as a prelude to a (…) -

“The evil that men do lives after them.” - William Shakespeare
Washington, D.C. - As Israeli terror bombing of civilians continues relentlessly over Gaza and Lebanon, demonstrators took to the streets near the White House, on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, to protest. Led by Arab-American organizers, and supported by antiwar groups, like the ANSWER Coalition, they rallied, at noon, in Lafayette Park, which is directly across the way from the official residenc of President George W. Bush. The (…) -

7 commentsNEW YORK —It takes at least 10 minutes and a large glass of orange juice to wash down all the pills — morphine, methadone, a muscle relaxant, an antidepressant, a stool softener. Viagra for sexual dysfunction. Valium for his nerves.
Four hours later, Herbert Reed will swallow another 15 mg of morphine to cut the pain clenching every part of his body. He will do it twice more before the day is done.
Since he left a bombed-out train depot in Iraq, his gums bleed. There is more blood in his (…) -

Israel widens attack despite UN resolution
12 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentIsrael continued its military offensive in Lebanon today, killing at least 19 people, despite a United Nations resolution for a ceasefire, passed unanimously last night.
The deadliest attack was on homes in the village of Rachaf, in the south of the country, just four miles from the Israeli border, where at least 15 civilians were killed by air strikes, security officials said.
Israeli missiles hit a vehicle in Kharayeb, a village in the Zahrani region about halfway between Beirut and (…) -
Condi’s House of Cards will fall...
12 August 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
5 commentsToday we all saw Condi Rice speak at the U.N. and propose the WEAK resolution (which passed 15-0 in favor), for cessation of hostilities and the influx of approx. 20,000 Lebanese troops to control South Lebanon.
Hint: It won’t work. This is just a face-saving move for UN members to salve their collective consciences. They knew they had to finally do something, so they did. Lip service and hope.
Just as simple as that.
So what comes next? There is NO timeline for disarming or even for (…)
