This is a brief and fanciful timeline predicting the future of oil.
2006: The U.S. attacks Iran and secures its oil and natural gas supplies. For the next decade, Europe and Japan give their tacit approval in exchange for a share of oil.
2009: The U.S. starts angling for Venezuela’s oil, using the same pretext of national security it used against Iraq and is currently using against Iran.
2012: The U.S. invades Venezuela and secures its oil supplies.
2015: China and India demand a (…)

On the 9th of April 2003, corporal David Breeze of the 3rd Battalion, 4th US Marine Regiment - the very first American to enter Baghdad - borrowed my satellite phone to call his home in Michigan. "Hi you guys, I’m in Baghdad," he told his mother. "I’m ringing to say ’Hi, I love you. I’m doing fine. I love you guys.’ The war will be over in a few days. I’ll (…) -

CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said the U.S. is spinning lies about Iran’s nuclear program as an excuse to control more foreign oil.
In a nationally televised speech, Chavez said escalating U.S. concern about Tehran and the invasion of Iraq both resulted from America’s insatiable thirst for petroleum.
One of the world’s most outspoken critics of U.S. foreign policy also claims the Bush administration is lying about Iranian efforts to build an atomic bomb, while (…) -

By Sara Lin and Deborah Schoch
While some brought anti-war placards and petitions to Hollywood on Saturday, a group called Veterans for Peace crafted 100 flag-draped coffins from cardboard cartons and carried them down Sunset Boulevard to mark the more than 2,300 U.S. troops killed in the Iraq war.
At MacArthur Park in Los Angeles, the American Friends Service Committee laid out 240 pairs of boots, each (…) -
The Second Death of Rachel Corrie Censorship of the Worst Kind
22 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
By VANESSA REDGRAVE
I am urging the Royal Court Theatre to sue the New York Theatre Workshop for the cancellation of the production of "My Name Is Rachel Corrie". Not because I donated money for this production, which the Royal Court have been fundraising for—a target of 50,000 pounds, underwritten by Alan Rickman.
This is censorship of the worst kind. More awful even than that.It is black-listing a dead girl and her diaries.A very brave and exceptional girl who all citizens, whatever (…) -

22 commentsBy Sean Rayment
An SAS soldier has refused to fight in Iraq and has left the Army over the "illegal" tactics of United States troops and the policies of coalition forces.
After three months in Baghdad, Ben Griffin told his commander that he was no longer prepared to fight alongside American forces.
He said he had witnessed "dozens of illegal acts" by US troops, claiming they viewed all Iraqis as "untermenschen" - the Nazi term for races regarded as sub-human.
The decision marks the (…) -

MUKA MUKA: The Japanese have a phrase for it
21 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentIn Japanese, "Muka Muka" means "I’m so angry that I could throw up!"
Today George Bush (no doubt on the advice of Karl Rove),went before the Press Corps and took questions from all quarters, including Helen Thomas (who he has diss’d for 3 years!). Helen asked him "After thousands have died in Iraq because of a series of reasons given by this Administration which have been proven untrue, can you explain why you went to war?"
Bush’s response to this question was only among the first of a (…)
