Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has admitted that her staff was caught off guard by Hamas’ victory in the Jan. 25 Palestinian Legislative Council elections. "I’ve asked why nobody saw it coming," she said. "It does say something about us not having a good enough pulse."
While the State Department, President Bush and many other observers understand that Hamas’ popularity is due to frustration with Fatah’s corrupt governance of the Palestinian Authority, they have been (…) -

12 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Watch a 9 minute video with Dr. Helen Caldicott explaining what the world’s fate will be should George Bush and/or Vladimir Putin get their nuclear wires crossed and launch thousands of nuclear warheads.
With almost a dozen nukes pointed at all 250 cities in the Northern Hemisphere in every country (w/over 50,000 people each), a strike against Iran, a technical mistake, a drunken rage or even an accident could very well be the flash point which sets an irreversible nuclear, worldwide (…) -
The Pipeline To War

Imagine a dozen cartoons serving the same purpose as Pearl Harbor or Sarajevo, being the final straw that led the planet into world war. Now imagine the cartoons were a staged event, designed purposely to drag us into unimaginable violence. If that is the case, then those who foisted the plot on an unsuspecting world, would be guilty of super-mass-murder.
And what if the latest candidate for the Attila the Hun award goes to Daniel Pipes? That is precisely what is being (…) -

LAST TUESDAY, peace activist Cindy Sheehan was arrested, handcuffed and removed from the U.S. House gallery shortly before President Bush’s State of the Union Address.
She was wearing a T-shirt alluding to her anti-war sentiments - "2245 Dead. How many more?"
Yesterday, Sheehan had the same basic message, but wore a long black dress with a large photo of her fallen son, Army Spec. Casey A. Sheehan, hanging from a ribbon around her neck.
This time, her 250-strong (…) -

Vice President Dick Cheney’s former chief of staff, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, testified to a federal grand jury that he had been "authorized" by Cheney and other White House "superiors" in the summer of 2003 to disclose classified information to journalists to defend the Bush administration’s use of prewar intelligence in making the case to go to war with Iraq, according to attorneys familiar with the matter, and to court records.
Libby specifically claimed that in one (…) -

In my piece concerning John Edwards which ran this past week, I wrote: "In the November 28, 2005, issue of ’The Nation,’ John Edwards was quoted as saying: "I voted for the resolution ... it was a mistake."
I have to add that I respect anyone, regardless of what decision they made in the past, when they see that it was wrong. I have deep respect when they come out of the political closet and with humility to state that their vote was a "mistake."
With that said, I (…)
