Doctors in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, have reported a significant increase in deformities among newborn babies.
Health officials and scientists said this could be due to radiation passed through mothers following years of conflict in the country.
The most affected regions are in the south of the country, particularly Basra and Najaf, according to experts. Weaponry used during the Gulf war in 1991 contained depleted uranium, which could be a primary source for the increase, scientists in (…)

Under Cheney, Halliburton helped Saddam Hussein siphon billions from UN Oil-for-Food Program
29 April 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentOctober 16, 2004-When the Iraqi Survey Group released its long awaited report last week that said Iraq eliminated its weapons programs in the 1990s, George W. Bush quickly changed his stance on reasons he authorized an invasion of Iraq. While he campaigned for a second term in office, Bush justified the war by saying that that Saddam Hussein was manipulating the United Nation’s oil-for-food program, siphoning off billions of dollars from the venture that he intended to use to fund a weapons (…)

All the Reasons Why "We can’t leave Iraq"...and Why All Those Reasons are Wrong
28 April 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsThe cold injustice of the U.S. invasion of Iraq stands out starkly. The justifications for war were lies: Iraq had no nukes or bio-weapons. It had no ties with groups like al-Qaida. The British medical journal The Lancet estimates 100,000 Iraqi civilians have died in this war—while over 1,500 U.S. troops have also been killed. And there is no end in sight.
The people of Iraq overwhelmingly see the U.S. as brutal occupiers—and these sentiments fuel the armed resistance. On April 9, over (…) -

I think we’re definitely winning. I think we’ve been winning for some time.”

28 April 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
US marines who suffered the highest casualty rate of any unit in Iraq have revealed that they were so short of soldiers that they used cardboard dummies to fool insurgents into believing that they faced more men.
Company E of the First Marine Division dressed the cutouts in camouflage shirts and placed them in observation posts to trick Iraqi rebels into thinking that they were manned.
More than one third of the unit’s 185 troops were killed or wounded during its six-month tour last year (…) -

Searching for the truth is ugly, frightening and dangerous - and the only worthwhile choice
By John Kaminski skylax@comcast.net
Maybe I’m already sufficiently hunkered down; safely ensconced in my leaky trailer; barricaded against the onslaughts to come; insulated from the contrived catastrophes that get worse with each new assault; prepared for the biological barrage our masters have scheduled for us to cull this feckless human herd and make their sinister (…) -
DFA: US concerned over pullout of OFWs in Iraq
27 April 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentThe United States has expressed concern over Manila’s move to bring home all Filipino workers from Iraq amid increasing insurgency there, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo said Tuesday.
Romulo said US Embassy officials have raised the issue several times since Manila offered to fly home the estimated 6,000 Filipino workers after two died in apparent attacks earlier this month.
The Filipinos represent the biggest number of foreigners working for US-run military installations in (…)
