Entire US financial system is to come under the scrutiny of the IMF
29 June 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
The entire US financial system is to come under the scrutiny of the IMF. Humiliation for Mr. Dollar: Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the United States Federal Reserve Bank, faces a general investigation by the International Monetary Fund. Just one more example of the Fed losing its power. For seven years, US President George W. Bush refused to allow the IMF to conduct its assessment. Even now, he has only given the IMF board his consent under one important condition. The review can begin in (…)

To Bee Organic or not to Bee by Pr Joe Cummins

The United Sates Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported a 36 percent loss of colonies in managed hives over the winter, up 13.5 percent from the previous year [1]. USDA has yet to identify a single pathogen responsible for the disease, and has finally begun to study the interaction between pesticides and viruses or varroa mites as possible causes [2]. (…) -

“Life imitates art far more than art imitates life.” - Oscar Wilde
Baltimore, MD - A corruption scandal recently surfaced at City Hall. It centers on the Mayor, Sheila Dixon, and charges of bribery. Fur coats and a couple of trips out of town as gifts are supposedly involved, according to published reports. The dollar amount doesn’t seem significant. (1) We’re not talking about a Jack Abramoff-Let’s-Buy-a-Congressman-scheme here, folks. (2)
I’m sorry that the HBO show, “The Wire,” just (…) -
Video: Are the Democrats Going to Keep Their Word?
28 June 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
The Democrats, during the 2006 Congressional elections, promised the American people that if they won control of the U.S. Congress that they would end the Iraq War. The voters trusted them. And, the Democrats did, in 2007, take control of the Congress. When, if ever, are the Democrats going to keep their word? As of June 27, 2008, 4,113 U.S. troops have died in the Iraq War. The cost of the conflict to the American taxpayers is estimated at $3 trillion.

On June 19, 2008, I interviewed Derek Cooper at a protest action in Baltimore City relating to the ongoing health care crisis in this country. Mr. Cooper is 34 years old and suffers from a “chronic disease.” He has no health insurance and his current medical debts exceed $36,000. Maryland’s Health Insurance officials have “refused” to help him. Mr. Cooper says that they figure: “I should just die!” The governor of Maryland is Martin O’Malley. Mr. Cooper lives in Montgomery County. He added: (…)

Two Federal Agencies Are Culpable in Oil Price Manipulations
By PAM MARTENS
If you want to flush out market manipulation, don’t turn to the sleuths in Congress. They’ve been probing trading of the oil markets for two years and completely missed a company at the center of the action. During that period, a barrel of crude oil has risen from $50 to $140, leaving a wide swatch of Americans facing a choice this coming winter of (…) -
USAID May Outsource Global Cash-Distribution Function

"Someone in the State Department or at USAID likely already is planning to leave government service and enter the private sector to get that contract," the source said. "That’s just how things are at State. You can be sure that there’s an official or a group of officials who are currently making plans to start their own company, use their inside connections to secure the contract, and become millionaires at the expense of the average working stiff."
