This is an essay containing my own reflections of conversations I had this spring with active duty military persoonnel who have served in Iraq.
I am a Navy Veteran. I served on the U.S.S. Yosemite, and in 1991 was deployed to the Persian gulf as a part of Operation Desert Shield. I recieved an honorable discharge in March of 1993.
At some point during my service in the U.S. military, I realized that my own patriotism was being used against me to do the bidding of the rich elite that had (…)

Galloway Wary Of Staged Terror Attack As Pretext For Iran Invasion
1 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsGeorge Galloway made worldwide headlines on May 17th when he appeared in front of a Senate committee on investigations, after its members accused him of profiteering from Saddam Hussein’s regime by receiving vouchers for oil, despite the fact that such allegations against Galloway had already been proven to be based on forged documents.
Galloway did what no American on Capitol Hill could, he told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Galloway turned the tables and put the (…) -

Can We Trust the Food and Drug Administration?
1 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentAs the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) embroils in scandal after scandal, Americans need to re-examine the once revered and tooted federal agency as the protector of public’s health. Although nearly 40% of Americans claimed that their confidence in the FDA has fallen due to the recent revelations, still 70% of Americans believed in the FDA’s ability to ensure the safety of prescription drugs and foods for the consumer market...

The Girlie-Bush Nuclear Option
1 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
5 commentsFor the edification of a young writer on the BellaCiao website: "Ratification" is nowhere near the same word nor does it have anywhere near the same meaning as "Declaration." Remember The Constitution? "Congress SHALL declare war." The word "shall" does not allow any wiggle room, at all, but our cowardly Congress has found ways of squirming for more than 50 years, now. The last war that was legally declared by The United States of America was World War II when CONGRESS DECLARED WAR!! (…)

"THE DOWNING STREET MINUTES
If any one looked objectively they would know.
If anyone used a dictionary they would know.
If anyone asked a secretary they would know.
If anyone studied judiciously they would know.
A memo is an inter-office communication.
Minutes are the real-time record of a meeting, whose veracity is checked by all members attending, and are given to all members attending, and must be kept by all (…) -
Conn. Sub Base a ’Minefield’ of Pollution
1 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
GROTON, Conn. -
For decades, the land around the Navy’s oldest submarine base was a dumping ground for whatever it needed to dispose of: sulfuric acid, torpedo fuel, waste oil and incinerator ash. Now the Pentagon has proposed closing the base, leaving a huge swath of land that contains dozens of acres of polluted soil and groundwater, an Associated Press review of more than 1,000 pages of government documents found. The Submarine Base New London is among at least seven (…) -

7 commentsThe desecration of the Holly Quraan by USA troops
The issue of desecrating the holly Quraan by USA soldiers in Quantanamo prison is of a major concern to the muslim world . This incident reveals the attitude of the new conservative politicians in the US and shows how they look to the muslim symbols. . Whether the Newsweek journal declines or retards from certifying its former report, it should be asked , how a reputable journal can publish a report before it takes all measures to be (…) -
National Catholic Reporter on The Downing Street Memo- Democracy Demands we Ask Questions
31 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
7 commentsBack to the basic question on Iraq
Perhaps it is unrealistic to expect a country hip deep in a war that seems to defy explanation — and that is going far worse than the Bush administration had ever anticipated — to stop and ask questions at this late date about why we are there.
Asking such questions would mean retracing so many steps that feinted past so many obstacles that it would be difficult to establish what really happened. It’s much easier to simply buy the line that has evolved, (…)
