15 September 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsIn the spirit of Ramadan I as an American citizen wish to apologize to the Iraqi people for your insurmountable loss you have felt since my government chose to invade your country back in March of 2003. I know that these are but words, but words are all I have at this point to offer you.
Many like me have called upon our elected representatives to end this war and all it does is fall on deaf ears. At times, I feel as if we are just as helpless as you are.
I have never seen you as my (…) -

A week of events meant to crank up a national demonstration against the war in Iraq is set to begin Saturday, with a 1,000-person “die-in” at the U.S. Capitol led by current and former American troops and accompanied by taps and a mock 21-gun salute.
The die-in will be the culmination of a (…) -

It takes approximately 2 1/2-hours to read the names of the “2,801 souls lost at the World Trade Center” on September 11, 2001. That comes out to approximately 3.2 seconds for the reading of a single name.
If we assume that it will take the same amount of time to read the name of anyone in the world, irrelevant of their country of origin, then it will take approximately 929 hours to read the names of the one million Iraqis who have died due to the US (…) -

13 September 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
7 commentsby Cathy Garger www.mytown.ca/garger Aloha! I just found out that the Navy is planning on expanding its war games and numerous new weapon "toys" in an area of 235,000 square nautical miles around Hawaii! Incredibly, the Navy is proposing a major upgrading and expansion - in order to do more research, development, testing, and evaluation of military weapons and systems, to the tune of 140 (that is One Hundred Forty) projects, including even the use of Directed Energy Laser Weapons. Why (…)

Sustaining Palestinian Division, Reviving a Partner
12 September 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
By Nicola Nasser*
Saving a Palestinian partner, whom they have rejected until Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip in mid-June, has become the most important mission preoccupying the U.S. Administration and the Israeli government, a mission which nonetheless Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is taking seriously, against all the odds, pursuing a “hope” that their preoccupation could yet be a window of opportunity to revive serious Palestinian – Israeli peace negotiations and break through (…) -

Washington, D.C. — It was just a press conference! The northwest corner of Lafayette Park, just north of the White House, was the site. It was called on September 6, 2007, by the ANSWER Coalition to promote the massive antiwar demonstration scheduled for September 15th in this city and to spotlight the ongoing harassing conduct used against that organization by the government, both local and national. The (…) -

Another Dishonorable Chicken-hawk by Cindy Sheehan
I know just a little bit about Mr. William Kristol:
He is the son of one of the founders of the "neo-conservative" movement, Irving Kristol.
He is a commentator on Fox News.
He was Chief of Staff for one of the political "geniuses" of our time: VP Dan Quayle.
He is editor of another Rupert Murdoch (…) -

Posted September 6, 2007 | 11:59 PM (EST) I don’t think this is what Margaret Mead had in mind but I admit it was the first thought that popped into my mind when I saw this composite photograph and read some of the accompanying blog commentary on DownWithTyranny! back on August 9th (a portion of which follows):

Presidential candidate Ron Paul believes that an attack on Iran is highly likely within a year and that the Bush administration is simply waiting for the right opportunity, or event on which to blame Iran, before launching the assault.
