Kevin Benderman’s court martial starts tomorrow - Thursday, July 28. More funds are needed to pay for his legal defense.
He is taking a stand for peace, and against an illegal war. By filing as a Conscientious Objector, and refusing re-deployment to Iraq, his case will set a precedent for hundreds if not thousands who want to do what he has done, but hesitate to do so.
There are two ways to support his defense - a non-tax deductible donation, or a tax deductible donation to his legal (…)

Why I Have Trouble Reading the News: Tony Blair Won’t Give an Inch
28 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
I sometimes having trouble even finishing news stories. Tony Blair, as per my reading on the BBC website and elsewhere, said that Iraq was no excuse for the London bombings.
But the invasion of Iraq was justified by the New York bombings? It’s precisely this sort of hypocrisy that pisses people off. How many people, all over the world, are going, "Sir, you most definitely believe in the principle of retaliatory violence, even when it violates international laws and standards. Further, what (…) -

1 commentTim Robbins at War : actor enters stage left and takes aim at the lying politicians and their lapdog media
by Bruce Kirkland NEW YORK — Psychologically, Tim Robbins sits poised somewhere between Hollywood celebrity and American citizenry. It is neither a comfortable nor a safe place.
On one hand, Robbins is an Oscar-winning movie star known for the complexity of his performances, whether as hero, as victim or just as often as the villain. In Steven Spielberg’s current sci-fi movie War (…) -

AFL-CIO CONVENTION CALLS FOR TROOP WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ
By David Bacon
CHICAGO, IL (7/26/05) - On the second day of its convention in Chicago, the AFL-CIO took an historic step, calling for the rapid withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, and an end to the country’s occupation. Public attention has focused largely on the split in US labor, and the decision by two of the federation’s largest unions to leave. Yet the impact of this call will reverberate for years, with as profound effect on (…) -

The U.S. administration has refused to rescind sanctions against Israel until the latter proves it has increased its monitoring of security-related exports, deepening the crisis between the two countries.
Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, who was about to leave for Washington for talks on the matter, canceled the trip following the increased U.S. demands.
The crisis erupted over Israel’s sale (…) -

Witnesses Say Army Dogs Bit Detainees
By DAVID DISHNEAU
FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) - Military dogs bit at least two detainees at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison, one severely enough to require stitches, witnesses testified Tuesday at a pretrial hearing for two Army dog handlers.
The unmuzzled dogs were also used to terrify inmates at the direction of the highest-ranking military intelligence officer at the prison, one witness said.
The allegations of prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib and the surfacing (…) -

It was an inside job, and allowed to happen as a pretext to get the people behind the war.
(San Diego, CA) A book titled, "The Resistance Manifesto" (ISBN: 0967346630) has just been published from a world wide network of Christians exposing the September 11th inside job, government prior knowledge, and the Bush family’s involvement in the attacks. Bold statements, backed by declassified documents, memos, and mainstream news reports, all (…) -
Rep Maurice Hinchey: This Congress has ’failed completely’ to oversee the White House
27 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsThis country in my opinion is facing one of the most critical moments in our history. The idea that a President of the United States may have misled the Congress and the American people with regard to war is the most flagrant example of bad leadership and irresponsibility and corruption that one could imagine in a democratic republic such as ours. So what is being done today I think is incredibly important and I am deeply indebted to you, Mr. Conyers, for allowing it to happen or making it (…)

US Openly Supports Iranian Terrorists

The U.S. Government is now openly supporting the Mujahideen-e-Khalq, an Iranian resistance movement designated as terrorist organization by the US State Department. On June 20th of this year, the Mujahideen-e-Khalq held a conference at the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad, which is where many foreign journalists stay and is under the full protection of the U.S. Army. I was in the area of the hotel that day, and saw at least 10 U.S. tanks heading (…)
