And if I could then ask both of you to comment on the very well-publicized British memo that was leaked to the Times of London, or to the London Times. Madame Secretary —
SECRETARY RICE: Which one is that? Andrea, which one is that?
FOREIGN SECRETARY STRAW: Which one is that?
QUESTION: On Iraq. That came out about 10 days ago, 12 days ago. Are you not aware of this memo?
SECRETARY RICE: Well, a lot of them are, unfortunately, out. (Laughter.)
QUESTION: In particular, this memo — (…)

Depleted, it is NOT!
30 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
5 commentsGeorge Lakoff, guru of "reframing." Lakoff suggested relabeling the issue: "radioactive weaponry". The name "depleted uranium" was carefully selected to imply harmlessness. "Radioactive weaponry" raises a red flag.
(Oklahoma City, Red State of Delusion) The term "Depleted Uranium" is misleading, on purpose. So-called "Depleted uranium" results from making hydrogen bombs. The CIA tries to deceive us all, all the time. They have succeeded for 55 years. George Lakoff blows the lid off (…) -
A Vietnam-War-Style Anti-War Movement Needed to Awaken Americans
29 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
15 comments"Under international law, it is illegal, as Lord Goldsmith said, to attack a sovereign country for the purpose of toppling the government. It is illegal to even plan to do so. These crimes are known as conspiring to wage aggressive war and waging aggressive war. They were the two main offences for which Nazi leaders were tried at Nuremberg." Dan Gardner CanWest ’British Memo a Smoking Gun’
What will it take to finally awaken Americans to the illegal, cynically pre-mediated war?

US aircraft doubled bombing raids on Iraq in 2002 to provoke Saddam Hussein
29 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentTHE RAF and US aircraft doubled the rate at which they were dropping bombs on Iraq in 2002 in an attempt to provoke Saddam Hussein into giving the allies an excuse for war, new evidence has shown.
The attacks were intensified from May, six months before the United Nations resolution that Tony Blair and Lord Goldsmith, the attorney-general, argued gave the coalition the legal basis for war. By the end of August the raids had become a full air offensive.
The details follow the leak to The (…) -
HOW DID BUSH GET US INTO THIS MESS?

7 commentsHOW DID BUSH GET US INTO THIS MESS?
By Peter Fredson
Several friends asked me this week about the divided nation, the War in Iraq, and how this recent mess evolved.
Before George W. Bush took office in January of 2001, he and a few neoconservatives had planned a preemptive attack on Iraq, supposedly to effect “regime change”
Plans to create a “global Pax Americana” were made by people like Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Jeb Bush, Lewis Libby (Chief of Staff for Cheney) (…) -
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Iraq

2 commentsI apologize, as George W. Bush would say, "I misspoke". What I meant to say was, "on vietnam". Does this sound familiar?
ECT "And as I ponder the madness of Vietnam and search within myself for ways to understand and respond in compassion, my mind goes constantly to the people of that peninsula. I speak not now of the soldiers of each side, not of military government in Saigon, but simply of the people who have been under the curse of war for almost three continuous decades now.

IS OUR PRESIDENT JUST MISUNDERSTOOD?
29 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentDoes our President lie to the American public and allow other politicians to commonly exercise that option? Is our President a War monger that has allowed the use of banned chemical weapons, that even now are causing serious side effects and health related problems of our own military heros? Has he left America, its citizens and its borders unprotected?
Does he put his secret society’s causes before American causes (Skull & Bones)? Has he allowed pedophilia in Government to run (…) -
9 days left before war with Iran

3 commentsAre we going to stand idly by as more sovereign countries are attacked? This farce has nothing to do with getting rid of nuclear weapons in the Middle East or else the US would shut down the billions of dollars of aid that Israel receives. Money that is funneled into its massive chemical, biological and nuclear arsenal, which is turning Israel into a dominant superpower. Their military & political might remains unchecked. They are in firm control of the world’s remaining superpower, the (…)

US Media Censors Uranium Weapons Stories - Depleted Uranium Turns to Poison Gas

20 commentsDedication for the year 2120. A Dedication in 2120 might say: Dedicated to the memory of the Iraqi people. Many people believe Iraq was the birthplace of civilization some 5,000 years ago. Iraq was destroyed and radioactively contaminated in an early 21st Century Oil War by a fascist world power, now extinguished. Dedication to the Iraqi People in 2005. Iraq is uninhabitable. The Wars in Central Asia all were nuclear wars fought with radiation dispersing American weapons. None of (…)

100,000 Signatures Needed on Downing Street Letter

I have written to you in this space on a number of occasions about my profound concern about the implications of the "Downing Street Memo," which actually consists of the minutes of a July 2002 meeting between British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his top advisers. During this meeting, Blair and his advisers reveal details about conversations with their American counterparts. These details cast substantial doubt on the honesty of contemporaneous claims made by the (…)
