It was painful news for us to know about kidnapping of our best friend Giuliana Sgrena in Iraq. She has been a wonderful voice for people of Iraq and Afghanistan and has tried hard in the past years to inform others about the plight of Iraqis and Afghans under the so-called "war on terror" camping launched by the US government.
Giuliana was in Iraq to witness the plight of innocent Iraqi people and show to the world that the invasion of Iraq by US forces has brought nothing (…)

Artists Against Wars
Giuliana Sgrena
The italian net of Artists against wars appeals to the kidnappers in order to release our friend Giuliana Sgrena.
It’s not Giuliana the enemy and not even the other reporters of the free press who talk sincerely in favour of the Iraki people and finally not even the volunteers of the NGO’s.
The net of Artists appeals to the Italian government and asks for the withdrawal of the Italian soldiers, like other contries have done before.

The film Seven Days In May is one of my all-time favourites. The gripping 1964 drama, starring Burt Lancaster, depicts an attempted coup by far rightists in Washington using a top-secret Pentagon anti-terrorist unit called something like "Contelinpro."
Life imitates art. This week, former military intelligence analyst William Arkin revealed a hitherto unknown directive, with the Orwellian (…) -

11 commentsThe United States has developed a non-lethal microwave weapon for use in Iraq.
Officials said the vehicle, termed Sheriff, would contain the Active Denial System. The system uses millimeter-wave electromagnetic energy that can be directed at targets at a range of 1 kilometer.
The ADS system would be downgraded for Iraqi deployment in urban areas, officials said. The ADS causes the skin to burn, causing the people to run away.
The Pentagon plans to install the non-lethal, high-powered (…) -

The United States has five secret military bases in Israel, according to a new book published recently in the US.

Arkin says the American military is (…) -

Mokhiber: Scott, last night, in an amicus brief filed before the US Supreme Court, the Justice Department came down in favor of displaying the Ten Commandments at courthouses and statehouses around the country. The CIA is denying Denver Post attorneys access to evidence used in a closed Army hearing that will determine whether Fort Carson soldiers face murder trials in the fatal interrogation of an Iraqi general.
In recent weeks, attorneys representing The Post in its attempt to open up the proceedings have sought to view sealed documents introduced in a December evidentiary (…) -
A.N.S.W.E.R.’s response to Bush’s State of the Union address
4 February 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
Empire - the true aim of the U.S. government - is barely concealed under the lofty rhetoric of Bush’s State of the Union address. In its pursuit, the U.S. government is committed to the destruction of every government and people that stands in its way, in the Middle East and throughout the world.
"Freedom and democracy" for Iraq and "liberty" around the world are new code words for a very particular global strategy. According to this strategy, the Pentagon’s military pre-eminence will be (…) -
