Treasongate: It’s Not Just Karl Rove Ted Rall July 12, 2005 NEW YORK—Since Karl Rove surfaced last week as the White House official who probably unmasked a covert CIA agent, new developments appear to confirm that the deputy chief of staff and chief Bush political strategist has committed treason: Newsweek has published, and Time has authenticated, a Time reporter’s notes about his crucial conversation with Rove. On October 1, 2003, during the "ongoing investigation" of the Valerie Plame leak scandal, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said it was a "ridiculous suggestion" that Rove was "involved in leaking classified information." Following the recent revelations that Rove identified the undercover CIA agent in an e-mail to a Time magazine reporter, McClellan refused to answer any questions about Rove. If the words someone speaks do not match reality, are they lies? If a person sincerely believes what he is saying but the words are not true, is that still a lie? If a person suffers from megalomania and announces that he is Napoleon or Jesus or a deity, is it a lie from his standpoint? If we strongly disbelieve someone saying they are Napoleon or Jesus or a deity doesn’t that make them a liar?
When we examine a person’s (…) -

WASHINGTON (AP) - For the better part of two years, the word coming out of the Bush White House was that presidential adviser Karl Rove had nothing to do with the leak of a female CIA officer’s identity and that whoever did would be fired.
But Bush spokesman Scott McClellan wouldn’t repeat those claims Monday in the face of Rove’s own lawyer, Robert Luskin, acknowledging the political operative spoke to Matthew Cooper of Time magazine, one of the (…) -

Here are portions of an article that managed to sneak into the Washington Post. by Dan Froomkin More than four in 10 Americans, according to a recent Zogby poll, say that if President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should consider holding him (…) -
Rove’s Leak Points to Bush Conspiracy
12 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
A key national security principle for dealing with top-secret information, such as the identity of undercover CIA officers, is strict compartmentalization, often called “the need to know” - which raises the question why George W. Bush’s chief political adviser Karl Rove would know anything about the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame.
The answer to that mystery - why was Rove involved - may be more crucial to unraveling who was behind the illegal leaking of Plame’s name and the (…) -

Blair rejects calls for probe into bombings
11 July 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
Tony Blair will on Monday reject Conservative demands for a government inquiry into last week’s London bomb attacks, insisting such a move would distract from the task of catching the perpetrators.
As police and security services on Sunday continued searching for the bombers - thought to be Islamist terrorists - Downing Street said the prime minister believed an inquiry now into the outrage which killed at least 49 people would be a "ludicrous diversion."
Instead, in a statement to the (…)
