So the big controversy today (Tues,Halloween), is John Kerry’s urging of young men (and women) to get a solid educaton or they might wind up fighting in Iraq. On the surface it LOOKS like Kerry is dissing the US military (as I’ve read elsewhere). In my opinion: No way! He is just counceling those who might NOT choose to run off to any so-called "noble war" just because they have no alternative, because they need the money.
John Kerry, although not my choice for president (didn’t fight (…)

Defeat Bush-kissers (Sherrod Brown)_Worse than GOP!
25 October 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Harry Truman used to say that a real Republican could beat a phony one — one running as a Democrat — every time. I want to prove the great President right once again.
I predict that Sherrod Brown (running for U.S. Senate) and Lewis Katz — Republicans in Democratic "clothing" — are going down to defeat. I will vote against them myself but for most other Democrats.
Like Mr. Truman, I feel that a fake Democrat and a fake Democratic Party are worse than nothing. By aping the Republicans (…) -

The GOP’s message of fear and subjugation
By Mary MacElveen
October 23, 2006
In reading this Washington Post article: GOP aims to scare up big voter turn out, I zeroed in on this, “GOP officials plan to spend the final days of the 2006 campaign attempting to rally partisans and limit conservative defections with dire warnings about the consequences of a Democratic Congress.” They are warning the base that “Democrats will raise taxes, weaken national security and liberalize social (…) -

Owings Mills, Maryland - The Maryland Public Television (MPT) station, one of the largest in the state, decided to hold a debate on Oct. 14, 2006, between the candidates running for the office of governor. The general election will be held on November 7th. MPT invited only the incumbent, Robert Ehrlich, a Republican, who has close ties to George Bush’s White House; and one of his (…) -
"Emergency Paper Ballots" will sink Dems in Nov (& I’m a paper ballot guy)
13 October 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentI’m against emergency paper ballots and am starting to say so in various writings. Ironically, emergency paper ballots will greatly help to snatch Democratic defeat from the jaws of Democratic victory.
On the other hand, if you’re one of my Republican friends you will like these emergency paper ballots.
And indeed, my favorite top political operative for Republicans in the Republican California Secretary of STate’s office is indeed highly in favor of emergency paper ballots: Susan (…) -
Signs of a Wider, Deeper Scandal in Congress

NPR.org, January 20, 2006 · The business and legislative dealings of many members of Congress are under increased scrutiny these days — and it’s not just former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and others connected to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Those high-profile relationships between big-money lobbyists and congressional leaders have trained public hawkeyes on other instances of quid pro quo — or the appearance thereof.
One such case involves Republican Jerry (…) -

Division of Elections Asked to Explain Changes
The Alaska Democratic Party today asked the Division of Elections to explain why changes were made in July of 2006 to the electronic database that contains the results of the 2004 General Election. A review of the audit trail of the GEMS database for the 2004 elections shows that modifications were made to the database on July 12 and July 13, 2006.

“Cassius has a lean and hungry look.” - William Shakespeare
Baltimore, Maryland - This state is in the midst of the roughest, toughest and dirtiest political gubernatorial campaigns in modern history. And, guess what? It makes for great theatre, too! Millions of bucks are pouring into the coffers of the two major candidates from the special interests. In one corner is the incumbent, Robert Ehrlich, a Republican and loyal Dubya devotee. A former member of the U.S. Congress, Ehrlich learned (…)
