What Both Parties in DC Refuse to Discuss
1 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
6 commentsThe Poet Ezra Pound once said The technique of infamy is to invent two lies, then get people arguing heatedly over which one of them is true.
This can be said of Every Issue in American Politics. The leaders put forth two acceptable ideas, and the tv propaganda dutifully repeats the fake debate 24/7 - all the while omitting the true alternative.
Iraq
Acceptable choices: Stay the course, or Redeploy
True Alternative: Bring Home the Troops
Health Care
Fake debate is about how many (…) -

Congress Lives in a Bubble, Bloggers Know More
28 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
16 commentsDuring the last several years that I’ve been studying politics intensely, it’s become apparent that Congress is living in a bubble, an information vacuum - they don’t even know what’s really going on.
Take for instance Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning, who cancelled all his newspaper subscriptions and only watches Fox News. Why is a clueless individual such as this allowed to make decisions on things like the "Patriot" Act? It’s ridiculous.
Well, that’s just one Senator you say. How about (…) -
DINO stands for "Democrats In Name Only"
26 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsThe reason our republic is in crisis is not that we have a ruthless, criminal administration in power; it is not that the press is controlled by self-serving corporations; it is not because rampant bribery has overtaken the Congressional agenda; and even the massive program by Republicans to subvert democracy is inadequate explanation for the crisis. The reason our republic is in crisis is that we have no opposition party.
Why have the Democrats lost their voice at this crucial moment? Why (…) -
Skull and Bones- The Secret Society that has Destroyed America
21 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
6 commentsKEVIN PHILLIPS: Well, this gets complicated because nobody quite agrees when the intelligence agencies started. But Yale was front and center, because the statue that’s in front of the C.I.A. is Nathan Hail. Nathan Hail’s statue that they copied that from appears in front of Connecticut Hall at Yale in New Haven. So, if you go back to the revolution you have Yale and the Secret Service.
AMY GOODMAN: It goes back to Andover where Bush went as well.
KEVIN PHILLIPS: Andover was really in (…) -
We Must Defend Our Nation’s Principles

When I cast the lone vote against the September 14, 2001, Use of Force Resolution, I believed, as I do today, that Congress had no business authorizing an unspecified war against an unspecified enemy for an unspecified period of time, and I was worried that the over-broad authority of the resolution was vulnerable to abuse.
Certainly few, if any, who supported the resolution could have believed that they were casting a vote for warrantless spying on Americans. As (…) -

(APN) ATLANTA-25 US Representatives-including two members of the Georgia delegation-have now signed on as co-sponsors of H. Res 635, demanding a probe which could recommend Bush’s impeachment, including the initial sponsor, US Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), Atlanta Progressive News has learned.
If the Democratic Party is able to retake the US House of Representatives, Rep. Conyers would become Chairman Conyers of the House Judiciary Committee, whereas he is currently (…) -
How Conservatives Went Crazy
17 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentby Paul Craig Roberts What happened to a formerly conservative press to reduce it to political partisanship and warmongering? Specifically, I have in mind National Review and the Wall Street Journal editorial page.
When I was associated with National Review, the magazine understood that the U.S. Constitution and civil liberties had to be protected from government. It was not considered unpatriotic to take the side of the Constitution and civil liberties against a sitting government, even (…) -
Democrats Can’t Hackett

Maybe Dick Cheney can’t shoot straight, but at least he didn’t shoot himself in the face. Sadly, you can’t say the same for the leadership of the Democratic party.
Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid and Rahm Emanuel have not only strong-armed Iraq War vet Paul Hackett out of the Ohio senate race, but out of politics altogether.
And for what? To give Eagle Scout Sherrod Brown a clear shot at the Senate?!
Yes. OK. A messy primary is less than ideal as a precursor to a (…)
