Rock’n Peace Festival; 2 days long Anti-CocaCola & Anti-War affair...
6/7 September in Istanbul, almost 40 music bands from Turkey and all over
the world will join...

We all know that Coca Cola is not only a drink trademark. It is a lifestyle.
It is a logo of global system.We are the people who have problem with the
system. Because we think this system cause poverty, injustice and wars in
the world. That Coca Cola is one of the symbols of this system.
AND COCA COLA IS NOT INNOCENT IN ANY WAY.
We will not forget the murder of 8 leaders of the Colombian Food and Drink
Workers Union (SINALTRAINAL) by paramilitary groups who are financed by Coca
Cola Company and we will not let it to be forgotten .

We are people who like, listen to and make rock music and we protest the
Rock’n Coke Festival of Coca Cola on 6-7 September. We protest this "rock
concert" of 4 million dolars. Because rock music and Coca Cola can not come
together. Because rock is not for sale.

WE WON’T GO, LISTEN AND PLAY MUSIC.

If they have money, we have the strength of unity and solidarity. To prove
it with the slogan of "to speak is not enough" we prepare our
counter-festival. We understood that we are not alone when we start to work.

On the list of the Coca-Cola festival there are simple minds, pet shop boys,
the cardigans, hooverphonic, dreadzone, mercan dede, guano apes, sugababes,
echo & the bunnymen, sueda, dead kennedys, dirty vegas and a lot of Turkish
musicians.

When we start to work "BarisaRock (Rock’n Peace) counter festival " we did
not have much in hand. But in a few weeks a lot of groups in Turkey gave
support to us. Even some of the groups that will attend the Coca Cola
Festival with the pressure of the company decided to join our festival.
Trade unions and a lot of non-govermental organizations (NGO) support this
initiative. Our means are limited, but our aim is not to rival with the Coca
Cola festival. We want to display the crimes of Coca-Cola in Colombia,
Guatemala, Venezuela, Nigeria and in other parts of the world. We saw that a
movement against globalization could easily grow in Turkey like it did on
all the world. To support and strength this initiative we invite a lot of
rock groups to attend our concert.

The counter festival will be held on the same days of Coca Cola’s festival
on 6-7 September 2003. Please contact us and be in solidarity with us.
Some of the biggest Turkish rock bands (Mogollar, Bulutsuzluk Özlemi,
Pentagram, Mor ve Ötesi...) are protesting Coco Cola’s festival and support
the Rock’n Peace Festival.
