2 MORE UK SERVICEMEN KILLED IN AFGHANISTAN: PROTEST TO SAY NO TO NATO
by London - Open-Publishing - Monday 14 May 2012No to NATO protest - Troops out of Afghanistan, Don’t Attack Iran, No
intervention in the Middle East.
1pm, May 19, US Embassy, Grosvenor Square, London SW1
The death of two more British Servicemen in Afghanistan yesterday is a
completely avoidable tragedy. It is clear to everyone the occupation has been
a disaster, and that NATO are losing both the war and the battle for hearts and
minds. Despite this, President Obama and Prime Minister Cameron want troops to
stay till at least 2014, guaranteeing many more deaths, pointless destruction
and even more hatred of the West.
As Lindsey German argues in a new article, the only reason the troops are
staying is to save face for the Western powers. At its upcoming conference
NATO will be discussing the war in Afghanistan, and Obama and Cameron will be
trying to stop France’s new president Francois Hollande from carrying out his
promise to bring French troops out immediately.
Stop the War and CND have called a protest at the US embassy to coincide with
the NATO conference and the protests due in Chicago next weekend. Please make
sure you join the protest against NATO’s policies in Central Asia and the
Middle East and spread the word as widely as possible.
For transport information, leaflets and posters phone the Stop the War office
