CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said the U.S. is spinning lies about Iran’s nuclear program as an excuse to control more foreign oil.
In a nationally televised speech, Chavez said escalating U.S. concern about Tehran and the invasion of Iraq both resulted from America’s insatiable thirst for petroleum.
One of the world’s most outspoken critics of U.S. foreign policy also claims the Bush administration is lying about Iranian efforts to build an atomic bomb, while (…)

MUKA MUKA: The Japanese have a phrase for it
21 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentIn Japanese, "Muka Muka" means "I’m so angry that I could throw up!"
Today George Bush (no doubt on the advice of Karl Rove),went before the Press Corps and took questions from all quarters, including Helen Thomas (who he has diss’d for 3 years!). Helen asked him "After thousands have died in Iraq because of a series of reasons given by this Administration which have been proven untrue, can you explain why you went to war?"
Bush’s response to this question was only among the first of a (…) -
It is Not Time to Investigate or Censure; It is Time for Impeachment!
21 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)

The recommendations continue regarding investigating grounds for impeaching George W. Bush as well as censure. Periodically we also read and hear about petition efforts to attack Bush, Cheney, or Rumsfeld.
The time for such actions has long passed. The term "arrogance of power" that was reiterated so often in analyzing the actions of President Richard M. Nixon three decades ago has been carried to new meaning through the ruthless exercise of power by an unelected ruling (…) -
SEN . TED KENNEDY : IMPEACHMENT MIA
21 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
Frequently referred to as the "Senate’s leading liberal" , Sen. Ted Kennedy is strangely mute on the subject of the potential censure and/or impeachment of Unitary Executive Bush..... Back in the mid-70’s Teddy was remarkably active in bringing to an end the of reign of the mad King , Richard of Milhouse .... Today he huffs and puffs about Bush’s "incompetence" as commander in chief . In that regard he is echoing talking points first issued by his colleague , Sen. Dianne Feinstein of (…)

I saw a news item an hour ago which gave me great amusement. The headline read:
US wants new Belarus poll The story said: “The United States does not accept results of the Belarus election and believes the campaign that re-elected President Alexander Lukashenko was conducted in a ‘”climate of fear’", the White House said today.’”
What a coincidence. I was thinking exactly the same thing about (…) -
WVA. SEN BOB BYRD : IMPEACMENT MIA
20 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsSen. Bob Byrd is frequently identified as the US. Senate’s leading Constitutional Scholar .... Here is what he said of George W. Bush on 10/20/05 : " Americans have been stunned at the recent news of the abuse of power by an overzealous president. It has become apparent that this administration has engaged in a consistent and unrelenting pattern of abuse against our Countries law abiding citizens and against our Constitution...." Well said... Sen. Byrd also wrote a book entitled (…)

The Lobby: Why is American policy in the Middle East skewered in favor of Israel?
20 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsAmerican foreign policy has been weighed down for all too many years by an albatross hung round Uncle Sam’s neck, one that distorts our stance especially vis-à-vis Middle Eastern issues and ultimately works against U.S. interests in the region and around the world: that albatross is unconditional support for the state of Israel. Of course, saying this amounts to a hate crime in today’s political atmosphere, and it is almost impossible to criticize the Jewish state without being accused of (…)

Unions pile pressure on Villepin with threat of a national strike action
20 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
By John Lichfield
After a weekend of mass student demonstrations and scattered street battles, the French government faces the prospect of a prolonged social crisis unless it suspends its new youth jobs rules.
Smelling political blood, trade union leaders will consider calls for a national strike unless the Prime Minister, Dominique de Villepin, withdraws his "easy hire, easy fire" law for young, first-time, job-seekers.
More than a million students, sixth-formers and sympathisers (…) -

George W. Bush, trying hard to please the American public, seems to have hit upon a brilliant idea to revive the fading polls of his popularity. He has decided to give a speech, perhaps two or three or a dozen. In this way he can try through soporific means, to lull the public and give them a look inside of his fantasy life. It worked well several years ago, and his polls shot up several points.
It is true that he has (…) -

The Neoconservative/ ’Progressive’ /DLC bloggers and certain ’kept’ journos , all the usual suspects, are rallying behind Dicktator Cheney and his ward Master Bush , employing the Wait til Next Year Strategery ... The BS line goes as follows ...... Don’t challenge the two usurpers until next year - after the Dems retake control of the House.... Such BULLSH*T !..... Why ? Hophead Rush Limbaugh may stir up the GOP base in the months leading up to the midterms by casting Resident (…)
