STOP THE KILLINGS IN AFGHANISTAN: PROTEST 15 MARCH
by London - Open-Publishing - Wednesday 14 March 2012THURSDAY 15 MARCH 5.30 PM
DOWNING STREET, LONDON SW1A 2AA
This Thursday 15 March, Stop the War is calling a protest to stop the killings
in Afghanistan and bring the troops home immediately.
Protests across Afghanistan show that the recent atrocities have generated
massive anger and that the majority in Afghanistan are opposed to the
occupation. The latest opinion poll shows 73% of the British population want
the troops home immediately (SEE http://bit.ly/AmSsOK).
The only reason tens of thousands of NATO troops remain in the country is to
save face for the politicians who have started and supported this war.
Keeping the troops in Afghanistan even for one or two more years will lead to
completely avoidable death of untold Afghans civilians and no doubt large
numbers of NATO soldiers.
The only prospect for peace and progress in Afghanistan lies in withdrawing all
foreign troops immediately.
The protest at Downing Street, London, on Thursday 15 March, at 5.30pm, will be
addressed by: Linda Kemp, the mother of a soldier who has been ordered to go to
Afghanistan, Mitra Quayoom from Afghans for Peace, Caroline Lucas MP, Jeremy
Corbyn MP, Lindsey German from Stop the War.
