In My Life I Loved You More
by Cindy Sheehan
Since I began my vigil in Crawford, an average of 2.69 per day of our nation’s brave and noble troops died in Iraq for George’s cowardly and ignoble war. 2.69 families per day have been devastated for no reason except that: we have to continue killing American soldiers because so many have been killed already. My heart and soul go out to these families who had a loved one killed so needlessly and avoidably.
How many more are we as Americans (…)

I Met A Dead Soldier Named Casey
30 August 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentThe mother of a dead soldier stood in front of me and told me about her son. She told me his name was Casey. Casey Sheehan. She asked me to meet him. I agreed. I came to Crawford, TX to meet him.
The debate about Cindy Sheehan rages on and I’ve sat down and reflected on a lot of things.
When I was growing up, my parents always told me that you’re supposed to respect people. When you go to your little friends’ houses to play, respect their parents and abide by the rules that are set (…) -
We Need Your Support
29 August 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
Dear friend of A.N.S.W.E.R.,
Unfolding developments over the past several weeks have made it clear that the September 24th demonstrations in Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles have the potential to be the largest outpourings of anti-war sentiment since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003. The anti-war movement is gaining momentum daily, and successful mass mobilization on Sept. 24 can be the key element in transforming that momentum into a powerful political force.
We need your (…) -

The Reality-Challenged Challengers to Cindy Sheehan
29 August 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 comments"Americans should get a grip on reality. If we were invaded, we would fight till the invaders left. That is what Iraqis are doing and will continue to do until they drive us out. Then, after a period of healing, we can become friends once again. Our enemies in Iraq are enemies of our own making. Let us never forget this reality."
by Stan Moore
It is probably the fault of the media. Or maybe the failure of the public education system. Whosoever fault it is, the American citizens who have (…) -
Cindy Sheehan exposes the absurdity of warfare
29 August 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
The flashbulbs are popping at a prodigious pace and typically soft fence straddlers are climbing off their pedestals and throwing their feathered hats into the mix which can only signify that an empty cause is about. The celebration of unaimed and late-arriving anger in this instance is the current pulsating spectacle that is taking place in Crawford, Texas at what is now being termed Camp Casey. At this "camp", a mother of a fallen soldier is quickly gaining the attention of the Fox News (…)

UNTANGLING THE BALL OF BUSH LIES

3 commentsUNTANGLING SOME BUSH LIES
By Peter Fredson
Let me see if I can untangle the huge knot of lies that Bush has made into a large sticky ball.
He has claimed a dozen or so times that he "wants to stay the course."
By that he means he intends to stay in Iraq, a foreign country which up until a few years ago was a sovereign country. Bush says that he must "stay the course" because he has to kill "insurgents" in Iraq, before they decide to come here. He wants to attract them to Iraq, by (…) -

“The process of transformation [American empire building]...is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event-like a new Pearl Harbor.” From PNAC plan entitled Rebuilding America’s Defenses: Strategies, Forces and Resources for a New Century, endorsed by neocons in the Bush Administration, the corporate media and Washington think-tanks. Dear Settlers : "Dear" in the most literal sense

At long last it must be spelled out, without hypocritical pity, without "if" and "but".
We have paid billions of shekels in order to settle you in the Gaza Strip. We have paid billions to keep you there, and most of you have lived there at our expense. We paid billions to defend you, and dozens of soldiers, male and female, lost their lives doing this. Now we are paying billions (Eight? Ten? Twelve?) to get you out of there and pay you generous compensation.
But all this (…) -
Al Sharpton joins interfaith service
29 August 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
11 commentsRepresentatives of a dozen faith-based communities and beliefs gathered this morning for an interfaith prayer service. Each took a moment to express in their own words why this war must end. "We should not declare God to be on our side, but we should be on God’s side," said one clergy member. Rev.
Al Sharpton closed the service with a moving call to take history into our own hands. Maybe folks didn’t have the courage to do what Cindy did, but the least we can do now is stand with her now, (…)
