I was going to write a Christmas message to all of my readers, but an error occurred which prevented me from posting any message on my blog. As I see now, it has cleared itself.
With that said, I do hope that all of my readers enjoyed this special day with family and friends. I also hope that our soldiers still deployed over in Iraq and Afghanistan entered our minds as we celebrated a day so full of life. They should have been home amongst their (...)

Through Howard Dean’s ‘fifty state strategy’ it was ‘mission accomplished’

It has been reported that James Carville would like to replace Howard Dean with Harold Ford Jr. to head the Democratic National Committee, in which he said "Suppose Harold Ford became chairman of the DNC? How much more money do you think we could raise? Just think of the difference it could make in one day. Now probably Harold Ford wants to stay in Tennessee. I just appointed myself (...) -
Columnists like George Will should stand up for our military instead of Bush

When George Will of the Washington Post had this to say of Senator-elect James Webb as Webb tried to avoid President Bush at all costs, “Webb certainly has conveyed what he is: a boor. Never mind the patent disrespect for the presidency. Webb’s more gross offense was calculated rudeness toward another human being — one who, disregarding many hard things Webb had said about him (...) -
Mary MacElveen: With Hitler is was the Reichstag and with Bush it was 9/11

In answering the terrorists back who attacked the United States on September 11th, 2001, George W. Bush was quoted as saying: "They (the terrorists) hate us for our freedoms."
Well, those freedoms can be found in the United States Constitution.
Contained within the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are the very laws that separate us from those we have always abhorred. By enacting the Patriot Act, we told Osama bin Laden and others just like him, that they won.
Those (...) -

There is a big lesson for us all as one reads E.J. Dionne’s piece Remember who sent you in which he speaks to the new Democratic majority of why they were elected to take over both houses of congress and also this piece once again reaffirms my original belief that those across America did not vote for this new majority to get their pound of flesh through an (...) -
How is socialism bad when it helps those who need it most?
4 January 2006by Mary MacElveen There are times where the good news coming from Venezuela is overshadowed by those closely monitoring what weapons have been purchased by the Chavez administration, or how he will interact with Bolivia’s president-elect Evo Morales.
In my opinion both are treated by those who oppose President Chavez as if the sky were falling in.
The opposition, both in America and in Venezuela, should sit down and take a deep breath.
Some are alarmed at President Chavez’ (...) -

In the closing days before these midterm elections, I have two politicians in my sights. One is Congressman Peter King (R 3rd Cong. Dist., NY) and the other is Senator Joe Lieberman (D (?) of Conn.) for their unbridled support of Bush and the whole-sale slaughter of innocent Iraqis.
I recently wrote in a previous column for VHeadline.com As a result this horrifying news (...) -
I smell more than sulfur, innocence being stolen from children as well as their lives

When President Chavez called Bush "the Devil" he was lambasted for making that comment, but I read this comment from Bush’s Press Secretary, Tony Snow concerning Mark Foley’s criminal actions "Yes, look, I hate to tell you, but it’s not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill.
And there have been other scandals, as you know, that have been more than simply naughty emails."
To call the exchange of emails between a former congressman and a minor page is not naughty but (...) -

In his latest email alerts, Ken Mehlman (GOP Chair) stated “There is nothing more important than protecting the American people and ensuring that we have the intelligence we need to stop attacks on our homeland. The vast majority of Democrats in Congress did not agree. Shockingly, 84% of the Democrats in the House voted against interrogating terrorists, as did 73% of (...) -
Bush is to blame and not the Iraqi people and we must remember that

In the American criminal justice system victims of rape, sexual harassment is often blamed by the defense attorney representing the rapist. As I was reading this Washington Post column As Iraq Deteriorates, Iraqis Get More Blame the same can be said for blaming the Iraqi people for the strife and civil war that now surrounds them.
I would say, let us put the blame squarely where it (...)
